• Trying to convert existing production database table columns from enum to VARCHAR (Rails)

  Hi everyone, I have a problem that needs me to convert my existing live production (I've duplicated the schema on my local development box, don't worry :)) table column types from enums to a string. • Duplicating custom nodes in JavaFX

  As far as I understand, duplicating nodes in JavaFX should be done with the Duplicator.duplicate function. It works fine when duplicating nodes whose types are included in JavaFX library, for example def dup = Duplicator.duplicate(Rectangle{x:30 y:30 width:100 height:100}); dup.translateX = 10; insert dup into content; would insert a black rectangle to the scene. However if I define a new class in the following way: class MyRect extends Rectangle {} Or class MyRect extends CustomNode { override function create() {Rectangle{x:30 y:30 width:10 height:10}} } It gives me the following runtime error Type 'javafxapplication1.NumberGrid$MyRect' not found. Where of course javafxapplication1.NumberGrid are the package and file the MyRect class is in. This guy at Sun's forums had the same problem, but I don't see any answer in there. Or maybe I'm doing that the wrong way, and there's a better approach for duplicating custom nodes? update: Trying to duplicate Group worked, but trying to duplicate Stack yields the same error. According to the documentation, it's supposed to support all types supported in FXD including Node, but maybe it supports only some of Node's descendants?

  Summary: I want to know if it is possible to do something like this: {a: 'A',b: this.a} ...by using some other pointer like {a: 'A',b: self.a} or {a: 'A',b: own.a} or anything else... Full question: I'm trying to extend MyBaseModule using Ext.extend, and need to cross-reference values in the extension object passed to Ext.extend(). Since I'm not yet in context of MyModule, I'm not able to use this to reference the object (See example below line 12). • What is a faster way of merging the values of this Python structure into a single dictionary?

  I've refactored how the merged-dictionary (all_classes) below is created, but I'm wondering if it can be more efficient. I have a dictionary of dictionaries, like this: groups_and_classes = {'group_1': {'class_A': [1, 2, 3], 'class_B': [1, 3, 5, 7], 'class_c': [1, 2], # ...many more items like this }, 'group_2': {'class_A': [11, 12, 13], 'class_C': [5, 6, 7, 8, 9] }, # ...and many more items like this } A function creates a new object from groups_and_classes like this (the function to create this is called often): all_classes = {'class_A': [1, 2, 3, 11, 12, 13], 'class_B': [1, 3, 5, 7, 9], 'class_C': [1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9] } Right now, there is a loop that does this: all_classes = {} for group in groups_and_classes.values(): for c, vals in group.iteritems(): for v in vals: if all_classes.has_key(c): if v not in all_classes[c]: all_classes[c].append(v) else: all_classes[c] = [v] So far, I changed the code to use a set instead of a list since the order of the list doesn't matter and the values need to be unique: all_classes = {} for group in groups_and_classes.values(): for c, vals in group.iteritems(): try: all_classes[c].update(set(vals)) except KeyError: all_classes[c] = set(vals) This is a little nicer, and I didn't have to convert the sets to lists because of how all_classes is used in the code. Question: Is there a more efficient way of creating all_classes (aside from building it at the same time groups_and_classes is built, and changing everywhere this function is called)?

  Hello, i have this little script, which should ping the IPs in the host_to_ping array. This php is called with JS in the index.html. But somethin' wrong, 'coz the $rval is always 1 (which mean the host is unreachable). But i know that the first two host is alive. So i print the $res variable, and i see the message: Need to give the IP. • Send HTTPService Request in flex 3 with '-' in the URl Paramerters to get Google Feeds

  I am developing application in flex 3 which interacts with the Google feeds to produce my results. The URL to which i want to send request is something like this http://books.google.com/books/feeds/volumes?q=football+-soccer&start-index=11&max-results=10 Now i can send and receive results with q parameter, but in the next two parameters has a '-' (start-index and max-results). I am using HTTPService to send the requeset like this. SearchService.url = "http://books.google.com/books/feeds/volumes"; SearchService.method = "GET"; SearchService.contentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" Here SearchService is the HTTPService var params:Object = new Object(); params.q = searchText; params.start-index = 11; params.max-results = 100; service.SearchService.send(params); Now my flex IDE throws me a error stating 'Cannot assign a non-reference value'. Only if i send the request with this parameters, i could put pagination in my application. So how can i send HTTPService request with '-' in the URL parameters?

Something like: nickname for lvl Bob 1 5 John 6 4 For the moment I generate an sql query based on which SimpleValue key you want to display and on which SimpleValue key you want to order players. eg: I want to display 'lvl' and 'for' of each player and order them on the 'lvl' The generated query is: SELECT p.nickname as nickname, v1.value as lvl, v2.value as for FROM Player p LEFT OUTER JOIN SimpleValue v1 ON p.id=v1.playerId and v1.key = 'lvl' LEFT OUTER JOIN SimpleValue v2 ON p.id=v2.playerId and v2.key = 'for' ORDER BY v1.value This query runs perfectly. BUT if I want to display 10 different values, it generates 10 'left outer join'. Is there a way to simplify this query ? I've got a second question: Is there a way to display a portion of this ranking. Imagine I've 1000 players and I want to display TOP 10, I use the LIMIT keyword. Now I want to display the rank of the player Bob which is 326/1000 and I want to display 5 rank player above and below (so from 321 to 331 position). How can I achieve it ? thanks.

  Hi, I have to come back once again to sockets in Symbian. Code to set up a connection to a remote server looks as follows: TInetAddr serverAddr; TUint iPort=111; TRequestStatus iStatus; TSockXfrLength len; TInt res = iSocketSrv.Connect(); res = iSocket.Open(iSocketSrv,KAfInet,KSockStream, KProtocolInetTcp); res = iSocket.SetOpt(KSoTcpSendWinSize, KSolInetTcp, 0x10000); serverAddr.SetPort(iPort); serverAddr.SetAddress(INET_ADDR(11,11,179,154)); iSocket.Connect(serverAddr,iStatus); User::WaitForRequest(iStatus); Over the iSocket i receive packets of variable size. On very few occurences it happens that such a packet is corrupted. What I would like to do then is to clear all the data that is currently in the iSocket buffer and ready to be read. I have not seen any method of RSocket that allows me to clear the content of the buffer. Does anyone know how to do that? If possible, I would like to avoid using RecvOneOrMore() or similar recv function clear the buffer Thanks

  this is a follow up on my question on paypal integration. I'm working ona membership site for racing fans. My membership site has 3 membership levels - free, gold and premium. When a user signs up he/she can gets a free membership on the spot but has the option to upgrade to a gold membership for 4 Dollars a month or a premium membership for 10 Dollars a month. I've gone through the paypal integration guide a few times though and have a vague understanding of how to get this to work. I think the recurring payments option would be fine enough - however I don't know how do I implement this in my system. Like when a user decides to go for a paid account i.e. Gold or premium from basic - what should I do on both my code side and on the paypal account side - I'd really appreciate if anyone would outline what I'd have to do here. Plus when a user decides to upgrade from lets say a Gold to a premium account - there is the issue of computing how much should be charged to upgrade his/her account eg: a user has been billed for 4 dollars and the next day opts to go for a premium account so assuming that the surplus for the rest of the month is 5 dollars and further from that all payments would be recurring 10 dollars monthly - how do I implement this? And in case a user decides to downgrade from a premium account of 10 dollars a month to a gold account of 4 dollars a month - how do I handle the surplus which would have to be refunded for that month alone and changing the membership? And like wise if someone wishes to cancel membership and go to having a free account - how do I refund whatever is owed and cancel the subscription. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm asking to be spoon fed :( I'm quite new to this and this is for a client and I would really appreciate all the help here and really have to get this working right. • Browsers disagree about the text of a body element

However, in Chrome it's 11 because it thinks there's a linefeed after the '9'. In IE it's also 11, but the last character is an escape. Meanwhile, Opera thinks there are 12 characters, with the last two being CR LF. If I change the body element to include a span: <body onload="init()"><span>0123456789</span></body> and the jQuery call to: var text = jQuery('body span').text(); then all the browsers agree that the length is 10. Clearly it's the body element that's causing the issue, but can anyone explain exactly why this is happening? I'm particularly surprised because the excellent jQuery is normally browser-independent.

  Hey, I'm having some trouble with stuff that work locally and dont work on the app engine python environment: Basically, i want to get a program from an epg between ranges of date and time. i know i cannot do two where < so i saw a suggestion to save the dates as list as datetime.datetime which i did. [datetime.datetime(2010, 5, 10, 14, 25), datetime.datetime(2010, 5, 10, 15, 0)] This is ok. but when i try to compare to it: progranon = get_object(Programs2Channel, 'channel_id =', channelobj.key(), 'endstartdate >', programstart_minex, 'endstartdate <', programstart_minex ) This for some reason works locally, but fails to retrieve the data on the app engine. *Im using Google app engine django patch which uses the get_object to retrieve data in transactions. Please help. For example, the products in the tables are a print product(like a greeting card) that has multiple pages to render. Page 1 may have 2 text fields that can be customized, page 2 may have 3 text fields, a slider to define text size, and a drop down list to pick a color, and page 3 may have five text fields that can all be customized. All three pages (and all form elements, 12 in this example) are associated with 1 product. So when I create the product, could i add a button to create a page for that product, then within the page i can add a button to add a new form element field? I'm still somewhat new to this, so my db structure may not be ideal. i'd appreciate any suggestions and feedback! • Android ViewFlipper is out of control

  I have an app that uses a ViewFlipper to display some text and images. I have the flipper's flipinterval set to 10 seconds, but also want to allow the user to click a button that will advance the flipper. The code blow works great on 2.2, the view is changed every 10 seconds and if I click flip_button the view is changed and the auto flip steps back in 10 seconds later. The 1.5 and 1.6 versions will remember the manual advance and it will happen every time in the rotation. • What's with bad function call in view generated via scaffold?

• Is this a bug in plist or Xcode?

  G'day All If you create a date item in the plist editor of Xcode or Apple's standalone plist editor you get something of the form <date>2010-05-29T10:30:00Z</date> which is a nice well formed ISO date at UTC (indicated by the "Z"). Because I'm in timezone UTC +10 when that's read into my app & then displayed I get 8:30 PM out, still good. However if that is a time in my timezone it should be <date>2010-05-29T10:30:00+10</date> (replacing "Z" with my timezone offset). All of my attempts at reading such dates into my iPhone app have had the plist rejected as if it is malformed & editing a plist with such a date in Apple's editors changed the "+10" to "Z" without adjusting the time. Do others think I'm correct in thinking this is a bug in either plist or Xcode? My feeling is that the implementation of ISO date & time in plist is incomplete. Cheers, Pedro :)
